Sub-problem 2d - Page 7 of 7

ID# C402D07

Sub-problem 2d: How Can We Improve the Level of Service at the Ramp Junction at the Northbound On-Ramp to I-87?

Exhibit 4-37 shows the effect of increasing the acceleration lane from 500 (existing condition) to either 1,000 feet or 1,500 feet. Again, as with the addition of a lane to the ramp, the effect is not significant. In fact, as we saw before, the demand still exceeds the capacity of the merge influence area and so, here again, we cannot depend on the results from the HCM model for this analysis.
