Introduction
This case study is about a
Traffic Impact Assessment for a proposed site development in Clifton Park,
New York. The proposed site is located south of Maxwell Drive along Clifton
Park Boulevard (State Route 146). This case study will look at the horizon
year analysis to determine what geometric improvements will be required to
mitigate the impacts of the site development n conjunction with normal
traffic growth.
Getting
Started
Problem 1
Problem 1 will address the Maxwell Drive/Clifton
Park Boulevard Intersection existing conditions and the with-site conditions
analyses. This problem includes each of the bullets listed below.
Problem 2
Problem 2 will address issues pertaining to Moe Road.
Moe Road is signalized, and operates with fully actuated control with both
permitted and protected approaches. This problem examines issues related to
pedestrians and lane utilization in addition to with site conditions
analyses.
Problem 3
Problem 3 addresses the Shenendehowa/Route 146
intersection. This problem identifies proper use of the peak hour factor
and heavy vehicles as well as their effect on intersection operations.
Problem 4
Clifton Country Road is the largest
intersection in the arterial. This Problem will examine issues related to
coordination, lost time, and issues related to right-turns-on-red. In
addition, this problem will explore the difference between and importance
of intersection demand and volume.
Problem 5
Problem 5 will consider issues related to the I-87
interchange, including merges and diverges, weaving, and proper modeling and
analysis of junctions. This interchange currently operates over capacity,
and mitigation measures to alleviate congestion will be addressed.
Problem 6
In each of the preceding problems the intersections
along Route 146 were analyzed individually. This problem identifies the
interaction between all seven of the intersections along Route 146 and
the signal coordination issues involved with this interaction.
